The Prescott siblings – sister Leslie, brother Alan and sister Connie – have survived a miserable five years when their intelligent and loving parents fall into dementia and had to be cared for by their children. Now the parents have died and all three children have separately left New York and moved to San Francisco to re-start their careers and find happy lives. Why shouldn’t they achieve that? In fact, the book starts in San Francisco with the arrival of a wayward sister hoping to be able to stay at her more stable sister's house. Annette is the ex of these two sister's brother and back east they had conspired to get her out of the family and now they're feeling guilty. On top of that Annette gets sick and although she does recover, they just know they're to blame. The steps they take, the approach they take, their brother's attitude as they try to appease their guilt about Annette is unique, funny, and very cleverly written. If you like a careful, honest exploration of the heart and mind of everyday people, this will appeal to you.Product details
